Solar quote comparison

Got more than one solar quote? Enter up to three side by side to compare the price per kW, panel and inverter details, warranties, structure, paperwork and maintenance. Each price is benchmarked against UVR’s published rate list, and anything a quote leaves out is flagged.

How it works

  1. Choose your state and whether this is a home claiming PM Surya Ghar subsidy.
  2. Enter each quote’s size, total price and the scope details written on it. Leave a field blank if the quote does not say.
  3. Price per kW = total price ÷ system kW, compared with the UVR rate-list benchmark for that state and size.
  4. For homes, quotes with DCR modules show an estimated price after central and state subsidy.
  5. Blank or unconfirmed items are listed as missing so you can ask each installer before deciding.

Assumptions

Frequently asked questions

What should a rooftop solar quote include?

At minimum: system size in kW, panel make, type and wattage, whether the panels are DCR, inverter make and warranty, panel product and performance warranty, structure material and height, earthing and lightning protection, net-metering and subsidy paperwork, installation, and any annual maintenance. Treat anything not written in the quote as not included.

Why does DCR matter when comparing quotes?

For a home claiming PM Surya Ghar subsidy, the MNRE guidelines require DCR modules made in India with Indian-made cells. A non-DCR quote may look cheaper but would make the installation ineligible for the central subsidy, which can be up to ₹78,000. Get the DCR status in writing and verify it on the national portal.

What is the UVR rate-list benchmark?

It is the installed price per kW from UVR’s current on-grid residential rate list for your state: ₹57,000 per kW below 3 kW and ₹54,000 from 3 kW in Gujarat, and ₹69,100 per kW elsewhere. It is a reference point to spot outliers, not a statement about any other installer’s pricing or quality.

Is the cheapest quote per kW the best one?

Not necessarily. A lower price can reflect a lighter structure, shorter warranties, non-DCR panels, or paperwork and maintenance charged separately. Compare the full scope line by line, and ask each installer to confirm in writing anything the checklist marks as missing before you decide which quote to accept.
